*JUNE 8TH, 2021 NHDOE SURVEY FOR FAMILIES**
Good afternoon, BES families,
It is that time of the year again where the State and our District would like to know more about how the school year went from the family perspective! We at BES, and SAU 35, would appreciate you taking the few minutes to complete this year's survey. We thank you all for your support as we traveled through this crazy year. Thank you for your time!

*MAY 6TH, 2021 UPDATE*
Good afternoon, BES families,
This is a call to update you on the state's emergency order number 89 on travel restrictions for schools. The NH Education Commissioner has determined that schools can no longer ask families to quarantine following travel. This means that any student or family member who travels will no longer need to quarantine and may return to school immediately following their trip. This also includes individuals who travel from elsewhere and come to your home. We do ask that families continue to be diligent during this time and monitor for symptoms of Covid-19 as we approach the end of the school year.
As always, thank you for your understanding and your help in keeping BES safe!
*APRIL 17TH, 2021 UPDATE*
Hello BES Families,
Monday, April 19th, 2021 and Tuesday, April 20th, 2021 will have to be remote learning days. We have just learned of another case in our building and are concerned about the possible exposure to adults and children. The student is a 6th grader, so all 5/6 classes will need to quarantine all of next week (4/19/2021-4/23/2021) and will be learning remotely. Monday and Tuesday will be spent determining which adults and other children might have had contact. Unfortunately, we understand that kids have a lot of contact with each other outside of school, and we need the time in order to thoroughly trace contacts. If your child has any symptoms of Covid, please have them tested and let us know the outcome so that when we return on Wednesday, we are confident we have identified all infected children. Teachers will reach out by Monday with a list of activities for kids to complete during Monday and Tuesday. Since it is only two days, we will not be doing a device pick up. Thank you for your understanding as we work through this.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
Thank you.
*APRIL 14TH, 2021 UPDATE*
Dear BES Families,
Today we had a student test positive for Covid-19. That student’s class has been sent home and will not return to school until at least Monday, April 19th. Tammy Reardon has contacted DHHS who stated, based on the safety protocols we follow, that quarantining of that class would not be necessary. But BES has followed stricter guidelines than those set out by the state, and for that reason the affected class will not return until at least Monday, April 19th. Since all of the students in that class are considered exposed, but don’t fall into the category of close contact, we are confident that deep cleaning their room will allow those students to safely return on Monday. BES will continue to evaluate this specific instance and provide further information if anything changes. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Sue Greenlaw or Tammy Reardon. The rest of the school's staff and students who were not exposed will resume classes as usual tomorrow, April 15th.
Thank you.
*MARCH 29TH, 2021 UPDATE*
Good afternoon, BES families and staff,
Starting today, Monday, March 29th, 2021, BES is implementing new Covid-19 Guidelines. These guidelines have been adopted by the admin team based on the guidelines recommended by the SAU#35 School Nurses. BES is now moving to a 10-10-10 model;
10 day quarantine for travel outside of New England (NH, ME, VT, MA, CT, & RI), no testing out.
10 day isolation for exposure to someone with Covid-19, no testing out.
10 day isolation for symptoms of Covid-19 or test out with negative test and improved symptoms and no fever x24 hours without use of medication.
At this time, all other guidelines are still in place. Please refer to the Stronger Together Return-to-School Document for supplemental information. As a reminder, that document is continually updated as we continue through the 2020-2021 School Year. Below you will find an updated copy of the Parent Guide flow chart that reflects these new changes. Please reach out to the school with any questions.
Thank you for your continued understanding and support!

If you travel to states other than Maine and Vermont, please indicate on the questionnaire each week and we will contact you. Please be viligent in practicing social distancing. Limit your exposure to those outside of your immediate household, and follow CDC guidelines for staying safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is with your help we can remain open and safe here at BES. Parents, please be aware of this change when answering the Parent Covid Questionnaire each week. As always, we appreciate your understanding through all of this. Thank you!

Jan. 19th, 2021 is right around the corner, and we are so excited to see all the kids back at BES. We have a few important updates for you all as we enter back into the building. Please read sections below.
------------------------------
Due to scheduling and the time it takes to get meals ready, Café Services is asking that families/children order breakfasts and lunches a day in advance until further notice. Teachers will take breakfast and lunch counts in the mornings when the children arrive at school, as they have in the past, and will let the kids know what is for breakfast and lunch the following day. Students will need to order at that time whether or not they would like lunch for the following day. Any students signed up for the Breakfast Before the Bell Program will automatically be signed up for breakfast each day. We are asking, for the first day of in-house learning only, that parents/guardians please visit the link here to complete the order form for breakfast and lunch for the first day of in-house learning, Jan. 19th, 2021. This will collect who needs breakfast and lunch for our first day back. Meal descriptions for 1/19 are on the form, and the monthly calendar with menu details will be posted on the website and send home as soon as we get that information in. If you still need to opt your child out of the Breakfast Before the Bell Program, please visit the link here. Both of these forms, the Breakfast/Lunch Sign Up as well as the Opt Out Form, are due by Sunday, Jan. 17th at 6:00PM, in which submissions will no longer be taken and sign up/opt out will be closed. Please call the school Tuesday with any questions about the Breakfast Before the Bell Program if needed. No breakfasts/lunches will be able to be prepared last minute on 1/19/2021. We appreciate your understanding during these times. Thank you.
-------------------------------
BES is asking that parents/guardians send ALL SCHOOL MATERIALS provided while Remote Learning BACK to school with your child on Tuesday, Jan. 19th, 2021. Because so many pieces of school supplies were lent out to families during Remote Learning, we have very little to spare as far as supplies go here at the school. It is incredibly important that they bring back those supplies, including all of their technology pieces (tablets, computers, and all charging cords), to school on Tuesday. All of us here at BES thank you in advance!

BES Families, the Board made the difficult and unanimous decision tonight to transition to remote learning until January 19, 2021. With the rising number of cases in the North Country, a positive Covid case at BES and the holidays approaching, it was determined that in order to keep our students and staff safe, this decision needed to be made. Free meals will be available beginning on Monday, November 16 for pick up at BES. If you are interested in getting meals, please contact Nicole Kerstetter at nkerstetter@bethlehem.k12.nh.us by Friday. You will get more information by the end of this week.
**11/9/2020**
BES families, this is an update to let families know that we have a positive adult case of COVID-19 in the building and will be going remote learning, starting tomorrow, November 10th, for the remainder of the week and possibly next week. Families with students in grades 3-6 can pick up their devices tomorrow at 10AM to 3PM. Families with students in grades PK-2 can pick up their devices and materials from 1PM to 3PM. Device pick up will be at the front of the building. Remote teaching will begin Thursday, November 12th once everyone has had a chance to get their devices. Please be on the lookout for messages from teachers, support staff, and specialists about any important information regarding remote work. If your child has had any significant contact with this person, Tammy Reardon, school nurse, will contact you by 4pm today.
